New Dorp Business Improvement District

Go BID or Go Home!

As the borough’s version of a class American “main street”, New Dorp is home to some of the best shopping, professional services and restaurants the Island has to offer.  If you are not familiar with what a business improvement district (BID) is, take a stroll down the Lane to see what supplemental services, private maintenance, dedicated marketing and special events can provide for small businesses on a thriving retail corridor.  Started by Councilman Steven Matteo and the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC), the New Dorp BID is quietly reimagining what a shopping district can do for the community, its patrons and the “mom and pop” shops of the area.  The New Dorp BID has a dedicated maintenance crew and landscaping team cleaning up the area, so say hi if you see them.  Additionally, the group is constantly promoting local businesses and has been putting on some of the best events in the City.  The BID has been successful hosting events, including the 4th Annual New Dorp Restaurant Crawl with over 20 restaurants ranging from Indian to Italian and attracting over 5,000 people.  The foodie staple offered cuisine from over 21 restaurants Asia fusion, Indian and classic Italian.  Also the 1st Annual New Dorp Car Show that attracted over 7,000 people and boasted over 450 roaring automobile standouts.  Other events include the New Dorp Lane Concert Series that pairs the area’s top musicians to favorite food venues and Family Fun Days with rides through the spring and summer.  Most recently, the New Dorp BID has launched an Arts Series, activating vacant storefronts with arts organizations and bussing people from local museums to eateries on the Lane.  New Dorp Lane is a place you want to do business and also have your business for a un-BID-lievable experience.  Follow us at www.facebook.com/ExploreNewDorp and stayed tuned, they know you are watching.
