Veterans Property Tax Exemption Reflected in Jan. '18 Bills

The average veteran’s household will see additional savings of $595, and a total savings of more than $1,100 per year on property taxes; applications for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 due by March 2018 City Council Minority Leader Steven Matteo announced today that recipients of the new Alternative Veterans Property Tax Exemption will see the adjusted savings reflected in their January 2018 quarterly property tax bills. The Alternative Veterans Property Tax Exemption more than doubles the benefit veterans have previously been receiving, with the average household receiving an additional $595 off of their property tax bill, for a total savings of more than $1,100 per year.
